1 ** βραβεύω ( βραβεύς , an umpire ), [in LXX: Wi 10:12 * ;] prop., to act as umpire ; hence, generally, to arbitrate, decide (Isocr., Dem.; Lft., Col. , l.c.; MM, s.v.): Col 3:15 ; in some late writers, to direct, rule, control (so in Col., l.c., acc. to Thayer, s.v., Meyer, in l.), (cf. κατα-βραβεύω ).†
