1 κατα-στολή , -ῆς, ἡ ( καταστέλλω ), [in LXX: Is 61:3 ( מַעֲטֶה )*;] a letting down , checking . steadiness , quietness in demeanour. LXX and NT (cf. Plut., ii, 65 D; -ίζω = vestire ), a garment , dress , attire : I Ti 2:9 (but v. Ellic., in l.).†
