78 στόμα , -τος, τό [in LXX chiefly for פֶּה ;] the mouth : of man, Mt 15:11 , Jo 19:29 , Ac 11:8 , al.; of animals, Mt 17:27 , II Ti 4:17 (fig.), He 11:33 , Ja 3:3 , al.; fig., of inanimate things ( ποταμοῦ , Hom.), ἤνοιξεν ἡ γῆ τὸ σ. , Re 12:16 ; σ. μαχαίρας (Heb. פִּי ־ חֶרֶב , Ge 34:26 al.), the edge of the sword, Lk 21:24 , He 11:34 ; esp. of the mouth as the organ of speech: opp. to καρδία , Mt 12:34 , Ro 10:8 , 10 ; in various phrases (some cl., some resembling Hebrew; cf.
