1 ταλαιπωρέω , -ῶ ( ταλαίπωρος ), [in LXX Chiefly for שָׁדַד pu. ;] to do hard labour, suffer hardship or distress : Ja 4:9 . In cl. occasionally trans., to weary, distress (so Ps 16 (17):9 , Is 33:1 ).†
