5 ἀφανίζω , ( ἀφανής ), [in LXX for שׁמם ni., שׁמד hi., etc.;] to make unseen , hide from sight (Xen., al.). Later (MM, s.v.), to destroy : Mt 6:19 , 20 ; to disfigure : Mt 6:16 . Pass., to vanish : Ja 4:14 ; to perish : Ac 13:41 (LXX) .†
